How this report is made

As of Oct 26, 2026: 43 members of Congress on the Nov 3 ballot disclosed 1,482 stock trades since Mar 4, 711 buys and 771 sales. 66 of them (4%) were disclosed past the STOCK Act's 45-day limit. Scores as of 7:29 PM ET, 15 minutes behind.

  • Who is on the ballot. Every House seat and the Senate's 33 Class II seats are on the Nov 3 ballot (the House Clerk's member list and the Senate's, read Oct 25, 2026). A member is counted here when the state's election office names them for the seat they hold (its candidate list, sample ballot, or certified primary result, linked by each state below, read by Oct 22, 2026) and Breakaway's record holds a stock trade they disclosed. A redrawn seat goes by its number on the Nov 3 ballot, the district the member holds today after it. Members whose seat is up and who are not running for it are the last table, each with the official page that says why.
  • The window. Counted from Mar 4, 2026, the day Breakaway began reading both chambers. Trades disclosed from Mar 4 to Nov 3, 2026 count, by the day the public could read them, not the day they were made; the count updates daily through Nov 3, 2026.
  • Late filings. Late means disclosed more than 45 days after the trade, the STOCK Act's outer limit. Longest and median are the days from a trade to its disclosure, over the trades dated on or before their filing (as read, a filing can list a trade dated after the filing). No fine is public: a late filer can owe a fee, but no public record says who paid one, so the page counts late trades, never fines.
  • Ranges, not amounts. Members file each trade's size as a range, such as $1,001 to $15,000. The report shows the ranges as filed and never adds them up.
  • What is counted. Buys and sales of the US stocks Breakaway scores, options on them included, as read from each filing. Trades by spouses and dependent children count as the member's, as filed. A House paper filing counts once a machine reader has read it; a Senate paper filing is a scan with no text and is not counted. 6 of the 2,132 trades come from a news report of the filing, linked as its source in the CSV; Breakaway has not read those filings itself. Most traded is the stock with the member's most trades where one leads; a dash where none does.
  • Committees. Committee seats are not on this page: Breakaway does not hold committee assignments yet.
  • Sources. The House Clerk's and the Senate's disclosure sites, each trade's filing linked in the CSV; each state's election office for the ballot; the members' offices and the states for why a member is not running. Party from the public congress-legislators dataset.
