Terms of service

Last updated September 2026

1. The service

Breakaway (the service) is a stock screening tool. It ranks technical and news conditions for publicly traded US stocks. It is provided for informational purposes only.

2. Not investment advice

Nothing on the service is investment, financial, legal or tax advice, and nothing is a recommendation or solicitation to buy or sell any security. We are not a registered investment adviser or broker-dealer. You are solely responsible for your own trading decisions and their results. Trading involves substantial risk of loss.

3. Data

Market data is supplied by third-party vendors in real time, and the age of each quote is shown on the page. Data can still be incomplete, late or wrong. Scores are derived from that data and inherit its faults. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of anything displayed.

4. Accounts and billing

You need an account to use the scanner. Keep your password private, since you are responsible for activity under your account. The trial is free and requires no card. Paid subscriptions renew at the end of each billing period (monthly, quarterly or yearly, whichever you chose) until you cancel from the billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Payments are processed by Stripe under its own terms.

5. Acceptable use

One person per account. Do not scrape, redistribute or resell the data or the scores, attempt to bypass access controls, or load the service in a way that degrades it for others. We may suspend accounts that do.

6. Liability

The service is provided as is. To the fullest extent allowed by law we disclaim all warranties and are not liable for any loss, including trading losses, arising from use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the three months before the claim.

7. Changes

We may change these terms, and continued use after a change means you accept them. We may change or discontinue features at any time.

Questions about these terms can be sent to the address on the privacy page.
