What they are
Most momentum traits describe a move that already happened. The stock is above its averages, near its high, or up on heavy volume. Four traits describe a condition that builds before a move. The first is on-balance volume at a high while the price is not. The second is Bollinger Bands inside Keltner Channels. The third is the narrowest range in seven days. The fourth is more volume on up days than down days over fifty days. The card labels those four predictive and counts how many are lit.
Why they matter
A stock with two or three predictive traits lit and a full trend stack is compressed inside an uptrend. Compressed means its daily range has gone tight. That is the setup the trade plan is designed for. You get a clear entry above the prior high, a tight stop, and a wider move still to come. Buying after that move means paying a worse price for the same information.
How to use them
Sort the scanner by Technical score, which is the trait count, and scan the cards for the lightning-bolt line. Look for stocks with predictive +2 or +3 and a trending-up regime, meaning the stock has a clear upward direction. Those deserve a place on the watchlist. Set an alert for a score crossing or a break of the prior high. The Fresh list shows which of them lit a new trait today.
